The organization Mejor Ciudad made a call to citizens, political actors, and businesspeople to change in the urban paradigm through a project with a vision for the future.
They indicated the need to turn the capital of the country into a more inclusive, safe, efficient, and harmonious place.
Carolina Rodríguez, executive director of the organization, stated: “Mexico City is one of the most interesting, diverse, and beautiful metropolises in the world, but we consider it appropriate to do a reflection and, in the context of the electoral political situation that the country is experiencing, launch the challenge of reconsidering the urban development vision with a strategic, equitable, sustainable focus with a long-term vision.”
Through the learning of experiences and other countries, the experts propose the three needs to reconsider the city: learning to live in a centralized manner to shorten distances, creating safer neighborhoods from an integrated approach, and fostering proactive participation that joins the efforts of citizens, government, and private initiative.
